In Search of Da Cat

1996

A personal journey to find the legendary Mickey Dora, inventor of rebel surfer. The director, Ovidio Salazar, picks up the trail of Da Cat in Malibu and takes us through France to Africa. His is a search for a simpler life, a lost youth in the California of the sixties. Along the way we encounter an assortment of surfers, characters and casualties. Da Cat was a role model and philosopher, where have his ideas taken him? By the end of the sixties commerce had come to the beach.

What happened to Da Cat, did he too sell out or is he still out there waiting for the perfect wave?
